Here is a non-exhaustive list of questions you may have.
Please do not hesitate to contact our team for further information.

  • What is the excess?

This is your share of the cost in the event of a claim.

  • What is depreciation?

This is a rate of reduction (according to an expert) applied to the value of the insured goods according to their age, the amount of wear and their state of maintenance.

  • Is my yacht insured when I take part in a regatta?

YES, our policy covers your boat when participating in cruising races with no additional premium. In this context, the excess is doubled. (Excludes solo races, and races where one or more crew members are professional competitors).

  • Am I covered for water-skiing?

YES, physical injury caused by your boat to a water-skier or skiers towed by the insured boat is covered.

  • Is my boat covered when I lend it to friends?

YES, as long as it loaned free of charge and the persons have the required permits.

  • Is my tender dinghy insured?

YES, from the time it is specified in the Special Conditions of your policy.

  • Is my boat covered when it is anchored or at a mooring?

YES, however, if your boat stays anchored or moored outside a port for a long time, the excess is tripled in the event of a claim.

  • What value should I insure my boat for?

For new boats, the insured value should correspond to the sum of all the invoices you have paid including all equipment (hull, engine(s), additional accessories, sea-going clothing), since you benefit from the guaranteed new value for 3 years.

For second-hand boats, the insured value should correspond to the purchase price or, for a boat that you already own, to its value on the second-hand boat market, on the understanding that in the event of total loss, the amount of indemnity paid cannot exceed the value assessed by the expert on the day of the incident.

For second-hand boats, to ensure your investment, a CESAM expert’s report confirming the good condition of the boat and its value will enable you to benefit from an agreed value clause, guaranteeing your capital for a period of 3 years.

After three years, if you wish to retain an agreed value, a new expert’s report will be required.

In order to receive the best possible reimbursement in the event of a claim, we advise you to:

  • Keep an up-to-date, detailed inventory of all equipment and objects you keep on board your boat.

  • Keep all invoices of purchases, repairs and maintenance and any other proofs of the value of the equipment and goods on board.

  • Do not leave administrative documents (circulation card, French registration deed) on board when you leave the boat.

  • Lock and activate any protective devices or alarms if the boat is so equipped.
